该剧讲述了发生在抗日战争最为激烈的1941年，一群最为“草根”的普通民众的抗日传奇。在如此激烈 的大战进程中，它没有简单的描述战争的转折，而是关注战争中普通的人、普通的知识分子，他们的命运和情感选择以及在战争高压下的生存抗争。剧中人物皆为小知识分子、小贩及各类穷苦大众却演绎出一场惊心动魄的抗日英雄故事。
