石东升，重案组沙展，十五年前是一个正直火爆的警察，因一时冲动，牵涉一宗谋杀冤案，被判终身监禁，坐了十五年冤狱，因为有新证据发现而被无罪释放。升出狱后，表面上对冤狱一事表现豁达，只要求复职当回警察，但暗里却执意要查出当年冤案的真相，誓要把真凶绳之以法。但当升查知冤案真相，却苦无证据把真凶伏法时，升十五年来潜藏着的仇恨终于爆发，在极度愤怒下，对真凶执行私刑，将其射杀。而升内心潜藏着的极端嫉恶如仇的心理，在这刻得到了释放，升第一次感受到替天行道的痛快。自此，每当遇到法律未能即时制裁的凶徒，升便以替天行道说服自己，执行地下裁判。时日渐进，升变得享受这种凌驾于法律的权力和快感，甚至发展出一套歪理，认为既然执法制度存在漏洞，这个世界便需要有地下执法。最后，升走火入魔，当自己是上帝，终于演变成一个故意挑战法律的危险人物，谁要是阻止他进行地下执法，他就不惜一切铲除谁。结果，升执着乖张的信念，亲手破坏了与米安定的兄弟情，失去了红颜知己许文谦;也破坏了他竭力想挽回的婚姻，失去了妻女，失去了亲情。
