《枪花》的故事，发生在抗战时期。一开始，日本人便启动了“金钱暴”伪钞经济战方案，妄图摧毁中国经济，先是发行伪钞，进而印制真钞。樊露莎和茜茜二人临危受命，与赌博高手、退役特工、日本黑帮，自认奇货可居的掮客、铁血的天皇特使等形形色色的人等一路周旋较量。
1945年春，东北战场上，日军节节败退，日军决定将代号为“竹风”的虎林要塞布防图交虎林守军,但在运送途中遇游击队伏击，“竹风”丢失。为找回“竹风”，负责押送密件的日军第四宪兵团所属“南木部队”，组建“特搜队”针对游击队展开搜捕，妄图找回日军机密文件。我党组织授命关林和山鹰组建特战队，同时寻找“竹风”的下落。唯一知道“竹风”下落的特战队女战士孟虹作为找到“竹风”的关键突破口，成为各方势力争夺的对象。日军派出奸细打入特战队内部并绑架了孟虹的儿子，想通过要挟的方式换取“竹风”。特战队在与敌斗争的过程中，通过孟虹回忆起的线索，终于搜寻到“竹风”的踪迹，并将“竹风”交给了组织，成功捣毁了日军的计划。
本影片基于真实故事改编。在1986年挑战者号升空爆炸的前夕，一名工程师竭尽全力阻止飞船的发射。这位一腔热血的工程师争分多秒地争取中止这艘价值十亿美元的挑战者号飞船的发射，坚持认为O型密封环会故障失效并导致飞船全员覆灭。马歇尔太空飞行公司做出了商业层面的决策，而这位工程师做出了人性的抉择。
